FMA History

In earlier work as a venture capital professional, Bill Krause recognized that companies needed strong financial management capability at an earlier point in their growth. Yet, with limited resources, hiring a full-time professional was prohibitive. A firm that could provide those skills and serve as an integral part of the management team on a part-time, flexible basis made enormous sense. For that purpose, Bill formed FMA in 1981.

The approval and response to FMA’s controllership and CFO professional service offering was immediate and long-lasting. FMA’s focus has been serving businesses 15 to 150 employees in size within a 60 minute radius of Rochester. FMA has predominantly served companies engaged in manufacturing, optics, emerging technology, services, distribution, health sciences, food and agriculture.

Over the years, requests for specific FMA professional services resulted in FMA offering project based management assistance.  Specialized assistance is provided in business strategy and financial planning, financing, mergers and acquisitions, business turnarounds, ERP system utilization, cost systems and recruiting financial and accounting staff .
